Space Applications
With useful data now beginning to flow from earth observation and navigation satellites, it's an active time for the development of space applications. All types of satellites are now being put to work, in addition to the familiar telecommunication systems. However, derived products require a blend of innovative software design, low cost operational support and a real insight into the information needs of the customer. SciSys is meeting this challenge through a series of prototypes that illustrate integrated services such as transport telematics, real-time environmental monitoring and two-way portable communications. Behind these programmes is a clear appreciation of user needs. For example, staff at SciSys are shaping the operational potential for GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment and Security) - a new European initiative that will transform the way citizens and governments obtain information to monitor the state of the environment and help them identify and respond to crises.
