SciSys has supported EDF Energy and its predecessor companies since 1998, in its Distribution Use of System (DUoS) Billing Systems.
SciSys supports EDF Energy's Supercustomer application developed by SciSys in 1998 and its Half Hourly billing system developed by SciSys in 2000. These systems were redeveloped in 2003 to meet new business requirements and a data warehouse added. The systems are used by the three Electricity Distribution companies in the EDF Energy group to charge Suppliers for the use of the electricity network.
The Support Service covers both software errors and data correction, including the correction of faults arising due to data errors. Support is normally provided in office hours but the service is available on a 24 x 7 basis during the peak billing days during the month in order to minimise any disruption to the billing timetable.
EDF Energy and SciSys have agreed a 5 year Support Services contract for these systems. The price is predetermined to give EDF Energy predictability of its support costs over the term with a decreasing charge year by year to reflect the increasing stability and maturity of the system.
Technology
The billing systems are client server applications with the server using C, Oracle and AIX, while the front-end in written in Visual Basic, running on Windows 2000.
