SciSys has been at the forefront in the use of XML across industry and government and has extensive experience with the use of XML and its numerous related standards, such as Schema, DTD, XPath, XLink, XSL/XSLT, Formatting Objects, XHTML, etc.
SciSys has proven capabilities in the design of new XML Schemas for the interchange of information, both within an organisation and across organisational boundaries (see Environment Agency NFCDD case study). Indeed, SciSys has assisted government departments in defining their own XML development standards.
SciSys has developed systems that utilise XML for the construction of flexible user interfaces that can be easily changed to accommodate new styles and visualisation channels (e.g. digital TV, PDA, etc.). This uses XML transformations (XSLT and CSS) to produce XHTML and ECMAScript (Javascript) or other scripting language.
SciSys is currently evaluating the use of XForms for the next generation of platform and GUI independent application forms for business and mobile use.
In addition, SciSys has used a number of the standard XML languages, such as Resource Description Framework (RDF) and Web Services.
SciSys is currently working on business meta (semantic) modelling for its Regulation initiative to establish a domain specific language for the definition of regulatory regimes. This will allow the production of a new class of software "factories" for this business domain. For more information on these concepts see Semantic Web and Web Ontology Language (OWL).
