SciSys has been an Oracle Partner for many years specialising in bespoke development of Oracle-based applications. These applications have ranged from wholly "vanilla" Oracle applications based on Oracle Forms through to hybrid applications utilising the Oracle RDBMS with alternative user interface technologies, such as Uniface, VisualBasic, Java and J2EE, depending on the customer's preference or the organisation's IT Strategy.
SciSys has constructed a wide variety of high performance applications based on the Oracle RDBMS from:
- Complex, high transaction throughput applications (see London Electricity Group DUoS Billing)
- Real-time time-series and asset management data warehouses
- Complex workflow management systems
- Real-time satellite telemetry systems (see Meteosat Second Generation)
- Spatially enabled data warehouses (see National Flood and Coastal Defence Database)
SciSys has unparalleled experience in utilising Oracle's Locator and Spatial facilities to provide open, geographically aware applications (see National Flood and Coastal Defence Database above) and has presented on behalf of Oracle to the Oracle Spatial SIG . SciSys has expertise in using a variety of third-party Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies including MapInfo (MapXtreme and Professional) and ESRI (ArcMap, ArcObjects, ArcIMS).
SciSys has developed and currently maintains a number of applications using Oracle Forms/Developer for customers adopting a "vanilla" Oracle approach. Examples include the Environment Agency's National Abstraction Licensing Database.
